Setting up a warehouse based online pharmacy serving the UK was a dream for Amit Patel – owner of Pharmacy To My Door. He found a warehouse premises in the location required, which was on an industrial estate but was in need of a full refit. At first Mr Patel though that a quick fix would be the best option and he engaged four companies to tender for the works. After speaking closely to Rapeed Design, he realised that he would benefit from valuable business insight.
It wasn’t just the personal touch and trusting relationship that Mr Patel valued with Rapeed Design, he also recognized the company’s commitment to pharmacy as an industry and the working knowledge of online pharmacy.
Other companies were also invited to tender for the project and they all had good designs however Rapeed Design’s understanding of pharmacy came into play.
Mr Patel said, “working with Rapeed has been really good because we worked together trying to work out how to make the business work. Rapeed has helped me make it a better premises. I always had an idea of what I wanted but they improved the layout and efficiencies of how the premises should work. Some things I had no idea would improve it, have helped.”
Being clear about what the client felt was required at Pharmacy To My Door
was a positive step. It meant from the outset Rapeed Design was able to
evaluate and offer tangible and cost effective changes to the overall layout.
Internal and external signage, consultation and prescriptions collections points, a reception area, dispensary space planning were all taken into design consideration. The ergonomics of the dispensary furniture, lineal meters of space required to service the prescription levels were all factored into the design proposal.
As an online pharmacy the warehouse had ample space to house a dispensing robot, which would work to minimize dispensing errors and strengthen the business to be effective and efficient UK based service provider.
