Client Background
Running a dated and not fit for purpose pharmacy business was not part of the plan for the Kotechas. Pharmacist Mitesh was keen to see huge improvements in the sales and service offering for Shotgate Pharmacy in Wickford, Essex. The shop was lacking effective work top space, the pharmacy dispensary was small and needed to be bigger. The business was running out of space and the whole set up was dull and dark. He knew that something needed to be done. The pharmacy space in its appearance was not an accurate reflection of the successful business the Kotechas were running. Even though it was well organised, the lack of effective pharmacy design thought was stopping growth.
Points of note
Building strong links with the local community was always at the forefront of the Kotecha’s plan for Shotgate Pharmacy. Patient users and customers give the pharmacy a soul and the staff are the lifeblood to keep it all going.
After 10 years Mitesh knew it was time to head for a full refit that would boost the pharmacy space and increase staff moral. A newly designed pharmacy would also give him the confidence to grow his business and add to the pharmacy’s services offering. “The new consultation room has just added so much to what we can now offer,” he says. “What’s more is that I can now offer even more services in a clean, well designed and fit for purpose setting which gives me confidence and makes any patient know that they too are in the right place and in safe hands. what a pharmacy looks, flows and feels really does matter and from what we had before to what we have now does really show that.”
The Kotechas had an idea of what they wanted for their pharmacy, but through face-to-face consultation and through the pharmacy design process with Rapeed Design, they were able to finalise their ultimate pharmacy design setting. Mr Kotecha says, “I was very surprised at how much design knowledge is required at getting the dispensary design and flow correct. Rapeed Design offered this to me.“
Shotgate Pharmacy underwent a full refit which included a pharmacy design and fit out service including logo branding, colour scheme, a new dispensary design and installation. The pharmacy had a new ceiling, flooring, lighting and a new pharmacy counter and p-meds section all fitted. On the pharmacy shop floor new shelving and gondolas were installed as well as a new pharmacy consultation room. Externally Shotgate Pharmacy had a dated shop front, which was uninviting and a new shop front and signage were designed and installed in keeping with the new internal design and pharmacy refit. The new shop front gives the pharmacy a cleaner and professional look and the pharmacy signage gives details of services being provided at Shotgate Pharmacy.
